I've been to Great Wall before for their mediocre American style lunch specials but finally ordered exclusively off their authentic menu. They have a new chef and the menu will be updated soon but we loved both dishes we tried!
Beef Chen Du style was spicy and amazing in a complex and flavorful broth. Squid in a hot pot was so spicy and delicious! My only issue is that the prices are higher than I want to pay and I'm not 100% sure they're worth it. If items were a little more affordable we would come more often! -

What a disapointment!! We saw a waiter come to our table 2 twice, once to give drinks and 2 nd to take our order and he never came back.
A young lady came to our table and brought our food but was on the phone the entire time!
My husband waited a while before he could get a drink refill and we both felt as though we were putting her out. This was our 2nd time eating th her, both times were AWFUL and only did I see one other patron there. The food was not good, the service was awful, and we will NEVER go back!!!...we're done!!! -

This restaurant is better than your typical Chinese restaurant in AL as its food is less 'Americanized' and they have a wide variety of options. I always order their Ma Po Tofu off of the Szechwan menu. It is not as spicy as you would think so you can actually enjoy the flavor. The restaurant also has great ambience and some very pretty decor. It receives 4/5 stars because I have been here 3 times and the service is not consistent. The last waitress we had was great and even gave us extra rice for our leftovers. Before (on both occasions), one of the meals we ordered was given to our table 30-45 minutes after the first dish.

If I could give zero stars I would.
I've been here before (it's been probably 10 years) and it was great. I was in town visiting a friend and she suggested we go back to this place. I was craving Pad Thai (which is what I had last time).
Well, I've never seen PINK Pad Thai before (see photo)! I'm not exaggerating, this was by far the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. I could barf just thinking about it. I mean how could something that looks so bad even leave the kitchen?! How could the server even think this was ok to take to a table?
I immediately told the server how bad it was and he asked what else I'd want but I had lost my appetite so I watched my friend eat. I had steamed dumplings to start (which were cold) and an ice tea which I paid for. Honestly, I don't think I should have been charged for anything. -

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Birmingham! Their Hot&Sour soup is loaded with seafood, and rates on up there on my list of comfort foods. Their huge egg rolls come served with their house made sweet&sour and hot mustard sauces. My favorite dish is the House LoMein; also loaded with meat, but occasionally needs a small dash of red pepper sauce, just use with caution! Their Mongolian Beef is also top notch, but really you're not going to go wrong with anything on the menu. I always leave full and happy, and with a to go of leftovers for another delicious meal!
